A BRONZE MOULD FOR A LOCAL DIVINITY
INCISED QIANLONG SIX CHARACTER MARK WITHIN A DOUBLE RECTANGLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
It is of arched form, the removable front panel is fixed with two handles and moulded with an inscription in Chinese and Tibetan. The interior is moulded with the wrathful deity seated on a horse, all on a double lotus base within a scrollwork border. It is offered together with a wax figure.

Lot Essay

A similar bronze mould which depicts the deity Guangmutian, also known as Virupaksa, and also dating to the Qianlong period (1736-1795) was offered at Christie's London,13 May 2008, Lot 160.
