FRY, Roger (1866-1934). Twelve Original Woodcuts. Richmond: Hogarth Press, 1921. 8° (218 x 151mm). Woodcut titles printed in red and 12 woodcut illustrations by Roger Fry printed in black on alternate rectos, with the press's publications list in red and black. (Some browning to edges of title.) Original marbled paper over card, with label printed in black (extremities rubbed).
FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE. Hand-printed by Leonard and Virginia Woolf. In a letter of 2 December 1921, Virginia Woolf noted that 'the first edition of Roger's woodcuts sold out in two days, and another [is] to be printed, folded, stitched and bound instantly' (Letters, II, p.495). By 30 December she was boasting that the book had gone into a third printing. Woolmer 13.
