Sir Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (1769-1852), in blue cloak, coat, white waistcoat and cravat, wearing the jewel of the Order of the Golden Fleece signed, dated and inscribed in pen on the backing card George Raphael Ward / Pinxt. / 7. Newman St. / 1828. / London.' and in a different hand 'Field Marshal / Arthur 1st Duke of Wellington K.G. / etc etc etc etc' on ivory
