CIRCA 1770, BLUE SCRIPT F MARKS, IMPRESSED AND INCISED NUMERALS, THE ORMOLU MOUNTS MID-19TH CENTURY, PROBABLY GERMAN
The tureen, cover and stand painted with vignettes of birds in wooded landscape within rocaille moulded and scale-pattern borders alternating with bouquets of flowers, enriched with gilt foliage, the cover applied with a pear finial, the tureen mounted with a pierced foliate and floral gallery and classical mask and acanthus scroll handles, on scroll-moulded porcelain feet, supported on four ormolu acanthus branches framing a scroll-moulded oval stand, on an ormolu scroll and foliate-moulded stand applied with grotesque masks

Provenance
Probably acquired by Charles William Vane, 3rd Marquess of Londonderry (1778-1854) and Frances Anne, Marchioness of Londonderry (1800-65), possibly whilst travelling through Europe en route to St. Petersburg in 1836-37.
