Lot Essay

For a satyr with a similar looped tail compare the Swing Painter's neck-amphora in Tarquinia, no. 100 in E. Böhr, Der Schaukemaler. For a woman carrying a similar folded textile on her head on a hydria by the same painter see no. U15, op. cit.
