Lot Essay

Lucian Freud used to visit The Mill House, Alderholt, near Fordingbridge, along with his friend John Craxton. The Mill House was the home of the architect Kit, Ben Nicholson's brother, and his wife the painter and fabric designer E.Q. Nicholson. This is where the present lot and lot 123 were executed.
