BIBLE in German. Nuremberg: J. A. Endters, 1720. Large 2° (427 x 280mm). Additional engraved title, 6 double-page maps including 2 of Jerusalem, 39 engraved part-titles, portraits and plates, of which one double-page. (Some worming affecting text, mainly confined to end, maps with a few minor tears but without loss, corner of map of the Holy Land with one corner restored, a few other leaves with minor marginal tears and chips.) Contemporary German calf over wooden boards, sides with a design of interlacing strapwork in black, surrounding floral groups in gilt, two biblical texts at head and foot of each cover, spine similarly decorated, textured buntpapier pastedowns, gilt and gauffred edges, clasps (one clasp lacking, rebacked preserving original spine, extremities rubbed). Sold as a binding, not subject to return.
