BINDING, chained -- LUTHER, Martin (1483-1546). Opera, in German. Volume 8 only. Jena: Christian Rödinger's heirs, 1558. 2º (315 x 200mm). Woodcut title vignette, full-page portrait illustration, and initials. (Some browning mainly in the margins, some worming mainly in the inside margin of the first and last gatherings, small area of type poorly inked in 3E1 and supplied in manuscript, faint marginal dampstain in the last gatherings.) Contemporary blindstamped pigskin, with its original chain and catches and clasps, the upped board stamped '1561' (some soiling, some worming in the endpapers). Provenance: some marginalia and underlining in two or more early hands.
