Provenance: Francis Freeling (1764-1836, postal administrator and bibliophile; neat presentation inscription signed 'F.F. THE CHATSWORTH COPY, LARGE-PAPER ISSUE, IN RED MOROCCO. A handsome set of one of the most celebrated and attractive editions of Homer's works. Freeling, who presented this copy to Cavendish, was one of the founding members of the Roxburghe Club. Gaskell 319.
