Contemporary German blindstamped pigskin over wooden boards, upper covers centered with a panel depicting the Annunciation and the lower covers the baptism of Christ, within 2 rolls, one of the cardinal virtues, the other medallion portraits of emperors, red morocco spine labels. Provenance: John Evelyn (1620-1706, author; book-label; sold, Christie’s, 16 March 1978, lot 1230).
