Lot Essay

A fragment from the same lampas is in the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Comparisons to 18th and early 19th century paintings suggest an attribution to Assam. Another fragment is in the Association pour l'Etude et la Documentation des Textiles d'Asie in Paris (Joseph M. Dye III, The Arts of India, Virginia Museum of Arts, exhibition catalogue, 2001, cat.220)
