A PALE CELADON JADE-HILTED DAGGER
PROBABLY LUCKNOW, NORTH INDIA, SECOND HALF 18TH CENTURY
The watered-steel blade with drop-point tip, the pistol hilt with quillons and square carved as a lotus flower bud, the grip left bare and the pommel decorated with a gemset iris flowerhead on either side of a palmette along the spine, the blue velvet sheath with silver mount, the openwork decoration consisting of a floral spray rising from an iris flowerhead
