A South Italian black glazed skyphos
the body decorated with a palmette below each handle and a rim border of chevrons and stripes in added red, a central panel on each face enclosing vertical bands of laurel, chevrons and other decorative motifs, a band of laurel runs below linking the palmettes, details added in yellow and white -- 3½in. (9cm.) high, late 4th Century B.C.
