Conçue pour le dossier d'un trône, elle est en soie jaune, brodée au point passé de fils polychromes et or. Le centre est orné d'un cartouche polylobé représentant cinq chauves-souris (wufu) volant parmi nuages et branchages de pêches, au-dessus de rochers émergeant de flots tumultueux. Le pourtour est agrémenté de rinceaux fleuris, chauves-souris et entrelacs géométriques ; usures.

Imperial embroidered cushion covers are rare survivors of the Emperor's Throne room. Similar examples can be seen in situ on the thrones in the Hall of Supreme Principle, Taijidian, and the Palace of Eternal Spring, Changchundian in the Palace Museum, illustrated by Hu Chui in The Forbidden City, Beijing, 1998, p. 52, and 55. Compare to another imperial embroidered apricot-yellow silk throne cushion cover, dated to the 18th century, made for heir apparent or his consort, sold at Christies New York, 21 March 2013, lot 1296.
