Il est formé de trois vieillards vêtus de longues robes richement décorées, encerclant une jarre ornée d'un dragon à cinq griffes parmi les nuages. Ils symbolisent le thème allégorique des "goûteurs de vinaigre" (san suantu), chacun exprimant l'amertume, l'acidité ou la douceur du vinaigre qu'ils viennent de goûter.
