Lot Essay

US$12,000-18,000

With Patek Philippe pouch and fitted presentation box. Furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1964 and its subsequent sale on 11 January 1965.

Patek Philippe's reference 3445 must be considered one of the most timeless designs ever created for any wristwatch. It is free of any decoration and was never intended to be fashionable. On the contrary, with a production spanning two full decades it has proven to withstand trends and the ever changing moods of the consumers. Consequently, it does not come as a surprise that reference 3445 was mostly made in gold and in smaller quantities in white gold, such as the present watch.

Reference 3445, Patek Philippe's first calendar watch made in series, was in production from 1961 to 1981. The model and its calibre 24-460 M movement are illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, first edition, pp. 220 & 221.
