YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN DOUBLE CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1723-1735)
With deep rounded sides, the bowl is finely painted on the exterior in deep underglaze blue of purplish tone with two dragons striding amidst ruyi-clouds, the interior with an upright dragon within a double circle border.

Lot Essay

A larger Yongzheng-marked blue and white bowl of very similar design is in the Nanjing Museum Collection, illustrated in Treasures in the Royalty. The Official Kiln another Porcelain of the Chinese Qing Dynasty, Shanghai, 2003, p. 155. A larger bowl from the B.C. Tattenhall Collection of this dragon design was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 30 May 2006, lot 1399 (14.5 cm. diam.).
