A FINE RUBY-GROUND FAMILLE ROSE 'MEDALLION' BOWL
DAOGUANG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-1850)
The exterior is well enamelled with four gilt-bordered roundels enclosing sprays of peonies, peaches, roses and pomegranates, divided by stylised lotus sprigs against a sgraffiato ruby-pink ground; the interior is painted in underglaze blue with a central medallion of a basket of flowers, surrounded on the cavetto by four detached clusters of lingzhi growing beside other flowering and fruiting plants.
5 3/4 in. (14.7 cm.) diam.
