A PARCEL-GILT BRONZE CENSER AND COVER
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
Of square section, the censer is well-cast on the front and reverse with mythical beasts rising out of the sea and galloping across turbulent waves. The shorter sides are applied with handles in the form of two human figures. The domed openwork cover is cast in high relief with floral scrolls and surmounted with a knob finial cast as a dragon. The base of the censer is cast with an apocryphal Xuande mark.
