A YAOZHOU CARVED CELADON 'PEONY' CONICAL BOWL
NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY (960-1127)
The bowl is thinly potted with a short foot rising to straight flared sides underneath a slightly everted rim, carved and combed on the interior with a single peony spray, the exterior with a band of lotus petals. It is covered with an olive-green glaze pooling at the recesses, exposing the buff body at the foot rim.
