A comparable to the present lot is a vase and stand offered by Carlton Hobbs and attributed to the glassmaker Wilhelm Hoffman of the Harrach factory in Prague. The Harrach glassworks were prolific producers and likely produced several variations of the form. Lobmeyr is another, albeit less likely attribution. They were known to use the 'Alhambra' form in their designs, as illustrated in Waltraud Neuwirth, Lobmeyr, (Vienna, 1999), p. 152, pl. 373. The gilt decoration of the present lot bears similarities to pieces made by Lobmeyr in the 1870's, although at Lobmeyr the gilding was generally combined with engraving, which is not evident here.
