The design for these wall-lights, with their tête de bélier central mount, is attributed to the celebrated architect, designer and ornemaniste Jean-Charles Delafosse (d. 1789). For a pair of appliques supplied to the Prince Condé by the bronzier Quentin-Claude Pitoin (d. 1777), now in the Louvre, see H. Ottomeyer and P. Pröschel et al, Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, vol. I, p. 186, fig. 3.9.2.
