Reinhold Fredric Lindroth (1790-1840) was active in the both the royal courts of Sweden and Russia. A virtually identical model is in the collection of the Nordiska Museet in Stockholm, whilst another example was once in the collection of the Hermitage Museum, its current location unrecorded. A closely comparable model is also illustrated in G. Wannenes, Les Bronzes Ornementaux et les Objets Montés, Milan 2004, p. 382, while an additional pair was also sold 'Ariane Dandois: European Furniture, Paintings & Asian Art', Sotheby's, New York, 25 October 2007, lot 594 ($28,000).
