The removable rectangular top lined in gilt-tooled black leather, enclosing an ebony, ivory and green-stained interior, with a pair of associated silver-plated candle-sconces, framing counters and leather dice cup, above a moulded frieze fitted with two small side drawer, on stop-fluted tapering legs, stamped 'D.L-ANCELLET'

Denis-Louis Ancellet (d. 1823), maître 1766.
A virtually identical example by Denis-Louis Ancellet featuring the same overall shape with tapering turned and stop-fluted legs sold Christie’s, London, 26 October 2011, lot 1321 (£11,250 with premium). Ancellet is known to have collaborated with the renowned ébéniste Adam Weisweiler; a console bearing both Ancellet's and Weisweiler's stamp is mentioned by P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIe Siècle, Paris, 1989, p. 25.
