Lot Essay

The present table can be confidently attributed to the famed ébéniste Paul Sormani on the basis of comparisons with three nearly identical tables signed by the maker and recently sold at auction: the first sold Christie's, London, 19 March 2008, lot 189 (£17,300); the second offered Christie's, London, 30 September 2004, lot 207; and the third sold Sotheby's, Amsterdam, 16-18 December 2003, lot 549 (13,034 EUROS).
