In the Neo-Rococo taste, of architectural form, the pierced top surmounted by a bust of Aurora above a blue-ground dial, the shoulders of the dome applied with masks, finely painted with forest scenes emblematic of the Seasons, the backplate with stylzied Art Nouveau flowers

With its incorporation of Art Nouveau gilt scrollwork, the present clock represents a slight shift away from the traditional Neo-Rococo style favored by the manufactory's artistic director, Alexander Kips (1858-1910). For a massive porcelain box painted with a similar side panel of a fountain, likely by the same hand, see F. Dietz, Blühende Zeit der KPM, Petersburg, 2013, p. 476.
