Lot Essay

These vases were produced by the famed Samson factory in the 'Chinese' famille vert style. A vase of the same model is visible in a period photograph of the viewing rooms at Samson's rue Béranger premises. Another pair of vases of different form, but in the same taste as the present lot, sold Christie's, London, 6 March 2014, lot 192 (£40,000).
