Voir Harter (1986, fig.267) pour une statue présentant la même iconographie: un personnage masculin tenant dans sa main gauche un couteau et dans l'autre une tête et dont le sexe est ostensiblement représenté. La statue bangwa de la collection Blum fut certainement commanditée par un chef bangwa afin de commémorer une victoire sur l'un de ses rivaux. Sa coiffe n'est pas sans rappeler celle de la célèbre statue bangwa de la collection Franklin (voir Christie's, 4 décembre 2009, lot 130).
