Ruhlmann designed this model for the Restaurant Drouant in 1924. He subsequently used the design in other important commissions, including the Grand Salon of the Hôtel du Collectionneur at the 1925 Paris Exposition des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes and on the steamship Ile de France.
