Lot Essay

cf. B. Foucart, et al., Normandie: Queen of the Seas, 1985, p. 105 for a similar example illustrated in one of the luxury apartments - the Jumièges suite - on board the Normandie;

Edgar Brandt and George Bastard created this vase for the ocean liner S.S. Normandie. It came in two sizes: the larger 13 in. model was for the public rooms, and the slightly smaller 10 in. version was used in deluxe staterooms. Each is impressed with the CGT logo of the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique.
