Walter Teagle (1878-1962) was the president and later chairman of Standard Oil of New Jersey from 1917-1942. Together with his wife Rowena Lee, he acquired a 43-acre estate in Greenwich, Connecticut, which they renamed 'Lee Shore'. These sconces were supplied for the pool house they constructed in 1932.
