Lot Essay

Accompanied by a Rolex presentation box.

In 1969, Rolex began producing the references 6263 and 6265 in steel, 18k gold, and 14k gold, featuring the caliber 727. The chronographs were guaranteed waterproof to 50 meters, with newly redesigned screw down buttons and crown.

The present watch features a later silvered dial with cherry red Daytona designation, a feature seen on later 1970's reference 6263's. This pop of color was a popular design feature, and most likely the present dial with this highly desirable trait was put on by the original retailer to be more appealing to the eye of the wearer.
