Lot Essay

Accompanied by a Le Chronomètre Rolex Superlatif Guarantee dated March 10, 1965. Further accompanied by a Rolex presentation box and second bezel.

The present watch is a rare version of the GMT-Master reference 1675, which combines elements of the late 1950's reference 6542 series - the missing crown guards, luminous dauphine hands, and the small tip on the 24 hour hand - and elements of the newly introduced reference 1675 with a matte brown "bicchierini" dial and metal bezel insert.

The present example is a fine specimen of a transitional reference 1675, with French importation hallmarks on the case back, showing that the watch was imported in France.

For a similar example of a reference 1675 "hybrid" in gold, see 100 Superlative Rolex Watches by John Goldberger, p. 192.
