The Haldimann family tradition dates back to 1642. Beat Haldimann was born in 1964, and continued in the family tradition of horology by becoming a Swiss certified clock and watch repairer in 1985. By 1991, he established Haldimann Horology, in Thun, Switzerland. In 2002 he premiered the H1 Flying Lyra at Baselworld, the first wristwatch with a central tourbillon hovering over the dial, followed in 2005 by the premiere of the H2 Flying Resonance, the first double tourbillon to hover above a dial.
Currently, Beat Haldimann makes almost the whole movement of each watch produced in the Haldimann workshops, and is best known for his tourbillon movements. The H11 model is the first wristwatch produced without a tourbillon, but is unusual because the balance wheel is located at the center of the movement, directly below the hour and minute hands.
The present watch is a fine example of a classic and discreet dress watch from a house of haute horology, known for attention to detail.
