4o (192 x 136 mm). Title printed in red and black with woodcut vignette, 122 woodcuts of female costumes (108 printed on recto), woodcut printer's device at end (a few pages with minor staining.) Mid-19th century red morocco by Belz-Niedrée of Paris, edges gilt (even fading to spine). Provenance: Nicolas Yemeniz (1783-1871); ("Lugdun" bookplate); Edward Arnold (bookplate).
FIRST EDITION. Amman's work depicting female figures in fine costumes is illustrated with 122 woodcut plates, about half of which are German costumes, with others including: Dutch, Swedish, Bohemian, Russian, French, English, Spanish, Italian, and Peruvian costumes.
