FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE, PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed by Steinbeck in the year of publication on the front endpaper: "For Mrs. William Greenberg John Steinbeck '37." This copy includes the line "...and only moved because the heavy hands were pendula." on page 9, as well as the bullet between the 8s on page 88. Goldstone & Payne A7a.
