Sir Norman Reid (1915-2007) joined the staff of the Tate Gallery in 1946, going on to become Director from 1964-1979. The Tate has yet to acquire an artwork by John Lennon and holds only one artwork by Yoko Ono, I Ching No. 14, 1970.
