Lot Essay

Claude Picasso has confirmed the authenticity of this work.

At the same time as he was working in ceramic and silver, Picasso was also taken with the idea of producing jewelllery. He approached his dentist, a M. Chataigner, and instructed him to make jewellery from models by a process of cire-perdue. This jewellery was given by Picasso to his friends and relations.
