Lot Essay

A characteristic example of Francesco Guardi’s fluid and spontaneous studies from life. There are a number of comparable drawings in the collection of the Correr Museum in Venice (see A. Morassi, Guardi: I disegni, Venice, 1984, nos. 218, 229, 237).
