8° (162 x 98mm). Title with Bonhomme's Perseus device. 105 cuts attributed to Pierre Eskrich, the majority probably from metal plates. Head- and tailpieces, historiated initials. (Final leaf repaired at margins and slightly soiled on verso.) Limp vellum gilt with yapp edges by Leighton, upper cover with gilt lettered title and date within elaborate frame, flat all-over gilt spine. Provenance: S.A. Thompson Yates (bookplate dated 1894).

FIRST EDITION IN FRENCH. Bonhomme published the Latin and French editions. not only in the same year, but in the same month of September. The former is dated 13 Sept. 1552 at the end of the dedication, while the latter carries an 8 September date. The cuts were formerly attributed to Bernard Salomon, and some were first used in Guillaume Rouillé's 1550 edition of Clément Marot's translation of Ovid. A tennis emblem is included on p. 99.
