Oblong 8° (164 x 235mm). Engraved title and 24 (of 25) engraved plates by and after Collaert. (Lacks one plate, some light scattered spotting mainly in the margins, each plate numbered in manuscript in the margin.) Full polished calf by Ramage, sides gilt with corner ornaments, lettered directly on the spine in gilt, gilt turn-ins and edges (extremities lightly faded). Provenance: Henry Huth (1815-1878; bookplate).

FIRST EDITION. THE HUTH COPY OF THIS FINE SUITE OF ENGRAVINGS of fish, but also including a whale, a turtle, a tortoise, molluscs, crustaceans, and a crocodile. Of the three copies listed by ABPC only one comprised all 25 plates. Bibliotheca Piscatoria, p.63; Nissen ZBI 925.
