16° (113 x 78mm). Title within woodcut border and 100 woodcuts by Arnold Nicolai and Gerard Janssen van Kampen, partly with their monograms, after designs by Pieter van der Borcht, woodcut tail-pieces and one initial. (Occasional light foxing and soiling, few tiny repairs, marginal stain to D3-D4.) Late 19th century light blue morocco by Roger de Coverly, gilt cornerpieces, spine, turn-ins and edges. Provenanace: S.A. Thompson Yates (booklabel). PROBABLE FIRST EDITION of Faerno's celebrated version of the Aesopian fables, the small woodcuts adapted from the engravings of Titian (though possibly a reprint from an unlocated 1566 edition).
