Polyglot edition of this Protestant emblem book. This book was intended as an album amicorum, with a blank for entries at the end of each emblem. The work closes with sonnets written to the Queen of Navarra. The first known edition of the French text was printed in 1571 by Jean Marcorelle at Lyons. In the 1584 edition, Woeiriot's engravings were used again, with the artist's Lorraine cross erased from the copperplates. The portrait of Georgette de Montenay was not in the 1571 edition, but first appeared in the 1584 edition. Landwehr German, 445; Landwehr Romanic, 532; Praz p. 431 (note).
