4 parts in one volume, small oblong 2° (176 x 263mm). 4 letterpress titles, 5 engraved garden views, 1 allegorical plate, and 99 engraved plates. (Some plates in part 1 with light soiling, ink spots in plate 1.29.) Black morocco by Riviere & Son, spine gilt in compartments centred with flower tools, sides with gilt fillets, gilt turn-ins and edges. Provenance: S.A. Thompson Yates (bookplate).
THE FRENCH TEXT ISSUE OF ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS AND INFLUENTIAL OF THE EARLY FLORILEGIA. There is much variation between copies in the number and state of the plates, for which reason this lot is sold not subject to return. The present copy includes:

[Printemps:] title in French [Utrecht & Arnhem, ches Crispian de Pas, & ches Ian Ianssoon], with 'Description des Couleurs des quatre saizons...' on verso followed by eleven leaves of description of the plates in the first four parts [numbered 1-41, 1-20, 1-25 + 2 'Nota', and 1-12]; two unsigned leaves with Latin dedication and 'Index Vernalis'; two engraved garden plans; 41 engraved numbered plates with Latin text on versos, of these 24 with insects.
II. [Este:] title in Latin [Utrecht & Arnhem, ex officina Hermanni Borculoi. Et Prostant apud Ioannem Iansonium] with 'Index Aestivus' on verso [listing 19 plates]; engraved garden plan; 19 engraved numbered plates with Latin text on verso, of these 2 with insects.
III. [Automne:] title in Latin [Utrech & Arnhem, ex Officina caelatoria Crips. Passaei.
