Engraved frontispiece portrait, 8 plates of coins, 2 maps of ancient Britain, maps of England, North Wales, South Wales, Scotland and Ireland, and 43 county maps after Robert Morden, all double-page, 3 of which folding, 4 engravings in the text, one full-page, and numerous woodcuts. (Two tiny marginal tears to d1 and F1, variable spotting and browning, mainly confined to text although map of 'The Smaller Islands in the British Ocean' more heavily affected.) Early 20th-century brown morocco by J. Haines of Liverpool, covers panelled in gilt with crest cornerpieces, gilt crest repeated on spine (extremities lightly rubbed, covers scratched). Provenance: Bright family (binding).

First edition of Edmund Gibson's translation with fifty maps after Morden which he called 'by much the fairest and most correct of any that have yet appear'd'.
