CIRCA 1870, IRON-RED PRINTED AND INCISED MARKS
Painted in iron-red and gilt with the monogram FG below a band of Greek key-pattern and scalloped turquoise borders, comprising: a soup-tureen and cover, two vegetable-tureens and covers, another cover, six oval meat plates in sizes, eight comports, eighty-five plates in two sizes, twenty-three teacups, twenty-eight saucers, a slop bowl, and a further ten plates painted with flowers, fruit or birds
The soup-tureen 12 ¼ in. (31.2 cm.) across handles

Lot Essay

This lot includes the original invoices from the Pillivuyt manufactory of 46 rue Paradis Possoinere, Paris, dated 10 February 1873 and 16 May 1874. The service was commissioned for and bought by 'Monsieur Franklin Gorey, Consul des Etats-Unis à Livourne (Italie)'.
