Meiji period (late 19th century)
Each of intricate form with wide flat detachable neck and carved and pierced tripod feet, inlaid in silver, copper and shakudo with scenes from famous ghost tales - the left vase with Oiwa and the Buddhist monk, the right vase with Okiku and the Well, the tops decorated with foxes dressed as people, the bases inlaid in silver nunumezogan
