The first letter, dated March 1st 1950, is from the Queen Mother's Lady-in-Waiting, Katharine Seymour to the Rev. Leyton Spurgin. It details that the bag is to be offered in the 'Sale of Work' in aid of the church at Market Drayton on its 1000th year anniversary.

The second letter, dated 24th November 1950, is from Richard C. E. James, the Secretary of the The Queen's Gift Fund, to the successful winner of the draw for 'the Elizabeth handbag', Mrs Harris.
