The discovery, and publication, of the plaster models and casts held by the firm of Alfred André in Paris revealed that this workshop specialized in mounting baroque pearls in exotic forms, and setting them on deep scrolled bases enamelled in colours and set with pearls and precious stones. Particular reference should be made to four jewels in the collection of the late Baroness Batshevea de Rothschild.
