A 19th Century trophy cup and cover
of inverted pear shape, on a foliate-decorated rising circular foot and with a conforming knop, the spiral-fluted body decorated with rococo flowers and foliage and applied with elaborate reeded scrolling tendril handles, each side with C-scroll cartouche, one engraved:"This cup subscribed and sailed for by The Thames Yacht Club on the 27 June 1826 was won by The Sylph, E.S. Codd, Commander", the other engraved: "Presented By E.S. Codd, as a Mark of affectionate regard, to his Father Philip Codd Esqr. of Kensington", the rocaille, floral and foliate-chased domed detachable cover with unmarked sailor finial and with unmarked pendant anchor, the cup William Bateman, London, the date letter indistinct - 12¾in. (32.75cm.) overall, weight of cup and cover 46.50oz. excluding unmarked componants.
